Dear Reader
I have now reached a point where I roughly know what’s going on in my new position. By now I know most people who write me emails, and I also know whom to contact if I have questions. Even now there are still unexpected things happening most days, so that no day goes without surprises.
In the last couple of weeks we’ve had a large variety of events in VSETH. There was the Activity Fair early in October, and then we also had a couple of weekends: there was the Projekte, HoPo and IT weekends – all of them within a span of five weeks. If you missed registration for one of the weekends, don’t worry, there will be the Actives weekend next semester, which is a combination of the HoPo and Projekte weekends. Last week the board organised the yearly Punschausschank at Polyterrasse. With this the fondue and mulled wine season is starting. From the 24th of November until the 12th of December, VSETH organises Nik’s Hut on Hönggerberg. Where every day a different student association or commission will host a mulled wine and raclette chalet.
One of the main focal points for the VSETH board this semester is again PAKETH. While the last board worked a lot on the framework and regulation, for us it is now becoming much more concrete, with most study programmes now working on their new study regulations. The study regulations will determine how exactly all the programmes will look once PAKETH is implemented. The new study regulations and new academic calendar aren’t the only things that will change with PAKETH; there will also be a new digital infrastructure, called Digital Campus. This project will replace myStudies and the Course Catalogue (VVZ) and many more things. This should lead to a more unified and easier administration of our studies.
