An even more evil laugh than the first time echoes through the halls of CAB as Nic asks Josie to write the next Präsikolumne.
Instant regret flashes across his face as a sparkle of pure joy starts to form in the corner of her eye as the endless possibilities go through her head…
Very shocked that Nic is letting me write this. AGAIN. HA! Didn’t learn his lesson the first time, did he? Or maybe he just realised that I’m a more fun and creative person than he is. Well, we do all have our strengths. His are leadership, professionalism, intelligence and organisation. But, let’s be honest, are those really that important for being president of VSETH or even just in VSETH in general?
deafening silence for 513 seconds…
Surprised to hear that? Come on, be realistic! Do you really think those things are important? Well then you really don’t know VSETH as well as you thought you did. Do you really think leadership is important when you’re in charge of ten people on the VSETH board, each more unique than the next and of all the employees of VSETH? NOPE. (Yes, we have employees and they’re great. Trust me.) Or all the presidents of the student associations and the commissions? They don’t have an ounce of leadership in their bodies.
Even professionalism, you ask? Is it really essential when giving a speech at ETH Day for everyone who is somehow important in the ETH domain and in front of someone from the Swiss Federal Council to be professional? Naaaaa. You’re dreaming. Talking to the people who run your department or even the Rector of ETH on your behalf? AHAHA omg, this is so funny, of course you don’t need professionalism for that.
Think intelligence is really that important? Hot take, but I think most of us know first hand that you don’t really need much of it to get into ETH and VSETH no less. Need I say more?
How about organisation? Does one need that? Come onnnnn, you are pulling my leg if you think having 17 student associations and 19 diverse committees in your domain and getting dozens of emails a day requires organisation. Please be realistic. (Interesting fact that absolutely nobody asked for: Nic writes an average of 7.5 emails a day. Somehow I thought it would be more, to be honest.) And the rest of VSETH? You think you need organisational skills with an average of 40 events a week??? Pleeeeeeease, I could do it all myself, in about 1862 seconds. Easy. No problem whatsoever.
Honestly, I lost track of what I was trying to accomplish with this article… I might have had too much mulled wine from Nic’s Hut… Ah, whatever, if I can’t remember it, it probably wasn’t that important.
Forgets to wish everyone happy holidays, spent WITH YOUR LOVED ONES AND NOT STUDYING, and of course a happy new year, WHICH I DON’T REALLY CARE HOW YOU SPEND!
Liebe vsethische Grüsse
Josie
